Animal, Nature, B&W Photography
& Photo Art
I
am Sharon, but my
friends call me
Uni, please feel free to do the same. I have been a photographer,
artist and writer ever since I was a little girl. Until the
past few years, I have merely dabbled in my creative side as I
continued to watch closely, listen intently, live fervently and learn
as much as possible. I have been wife, mother, instructor, philosopher,
dog trainer, gardener, counselor, volunteer and more. I am still
learning who I am; I am one of the fortunate souls to have the freedom
to be myself and it is the most
challenge I have ever faced. My goal is to be a writer and
photographer. Photojournalist? Maybe. Writing is my passion,
photography and art my vision. Animals, dogs in particular,
are my soul. Being wrapped in nature completes me. From the tiniest
insect to an ocean panorama, I hope to bring the extraordinary to view
with all my endeavors. My wonderful husband Dan (better known as Wolf)
helps in every way he can ("tote that barge, lift that bale"). A
skilled film photographer in his own right, he handles the technical
aspects of our fun. Although most don't ever see him, he's always with
me. He gives new meaning to the "Silent Partner" stereotype.
Portraits
and Action
There's nothing like the
adreneline rush of an animal in
action. Action photography is immediately gratifying. An
active environment
brings
out the true spirit of
any animal; intensity, beauty and the expression
of energy caught in a photo is timeless. I have shot
events such as the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, Purina Incredible
Dog
Team, DockDogs, and more. From dogs to birds, if it moves fast, I find
it a challenge to catch beauty it in motion. However, I've
also enjoyed photographing "Santa
Paws" and local park posed pictures as well, that too is quite a challenge!
Getting any animal to stay still that doesn't want to, well, herding
cats comes to mind, especially when there are a hundred or more dogs waiting.
I
prefer to work
with animals in natural settings. Done separately from events, dogs are
suited best
for their own yard where they are most comfortable (and most times
won't need a leash) or a dog friendly park. Be it for portrait sittings
or
just a running jaunt, the animal must be in a relaxed mood. I have yet
to find any animal I don't like, and
years of dog training, rescue and ownership has allowed me patience and
understanding of
behavior. I am also owned by cats and certainly understand the patience
necessary for working with them. Indoor sessions are obviously going to
be a necessity at times. Want to include the kids? Yourself? The whole
family? All can be worked out as necessary. As you can see
by pictures I've included here, I do many types of
photography and I am always open to new ideas and experiences to learn
and grow.
If
you are interested in having a photo session
done please use the contact email above or give me a call. I am
available for
individuals and events, personal or organizations.
