As their owner it is my responsibility to make sure they are put in situations where the behaviors I want reinforced consistently can occur. When we got there everything went very well for them, there was no reason for me to expect that I could not get them out of the office without the reinforced behaviors I desired. I failed and I kept trying because I did not want them fail, ultimately to have it only reinforce the unwanted self-rewarding behavior. They bark, they get what they want.

For 3 years now Lt. Michael Barnhill, the headstrong leader of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, has been raising money annually via the Pennies For Police Service Dogs. This is done through volunteer efforts with the elementary, and now middle school children donating their spare change in hopes of winning an elaborate demo put on by the D.C.S.O.
